Refrigerant gas for UK businesses

We supply UK contractors and wholesalers from our EU warehouses by quotation. Each order is agreed with you first, because HFC imports into Great Britain need quota cover, customs entry and an ADR carrier.

How a UK order works

  1. Send your request

Gas, quantity, delivery postcode, and whether the address is in Great Britain or Northern Ireland.

  2. Compliance details

Your company F-gas certificate (for example REFCOM), UK VAT number and EORI, and who will act as importer of record.

  3. Quotation

Price ex VAT, Incoterm, quota arrangement, ADR freight and delivery date, confirmed in writing.

  4. Dispatch

Shipped by an ADR carrier with the safety data sheet and invoice. Import VAT is usually accounted for by the importer, often through postponed VAT accounting.

Why UK orders go by quotation

Since Brexit, a cylinder shipped from France or Latvia to England, Scotland or Wales is an import into the UK customs territory. Bulk HFCs entering Great Britain fall under the GB HFC quota system, and the party that imports them must have quota cover. That is why there is no UK checkout on this site. We agree quota, customs and transport for each order before anything ships.

Importer of record and quota

The first question in every UK quote is who acts as importer of record. If a UK distributor or contractor imports the cylinders, that business normally carries the customs and import-side quota obligations. A contractor buying gas only for its own installation and servicing work does not usually need quota for that purchase alone, but it does if it is the importer. The contract, Incoterm, customs entry and quota evidence must all name the same party. HFOs such as R1234yf are not automatically covered by the GB HFC quota, so the position is checked per gas.

Certificates we ask for

For stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat-pump work, send your company F-gas certificate, commonly issued by REFCOM, or an equivalent UK scheme. A City and Guilds 2079 qualification belongs to the individual technician; it does not replace the company certificate. We record the certificate number, the gas and the quantity with the sale.

Customs, EORI and VAT

The importer needs a UK EORI, and its VAT number should match the customs declaration. A UK VAT-registered importer can generally use postponed VAT accounting, which declares import VAT on the VAT Return rather than paying it at the border. It changes when VAT is accounted for; it does not remove it. Each quote states the Incoterm, so you know which costs and duties sit with you.

ADR freight

Refrigerant cylinders are dangerous goods, carried under ADR on the road legs and booked as such on the ferry. The UN number comes from the safety data sheet of the gas, and the carrier must accept that gas and cylinder size on the route. Delivery dates are confirmed in the quote, not promised in advance.

Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland is handled separately. Under the Windsor Framework, EU F-gas rules continue to apply to relevant movements, so a delivery from our EU warehouses follows EU certification and sales-record requirements. Tell us the delivery postcode and we apply the right rules. To start, use the quote form above or the gases in the catalogue.
